UniAbita asked us to redesign the signage for its main offices and other branches. We had previously designed the cooperative’s new trademark and coordinated image. We set ourselves the twin goal of creating signage capable of conveying UniAbita’s identity, while also ensuring it was user-friendly, thanks to a user-centred design approach.
We did this by working on two fronts. On one hand we focused on stylistic consistency redesigning all the pictograms and directional features, so that they fitted in with the cooperative’s image. On the other hand we concentrated on making the signage user-friendly.We set up a multidisciplinary work team and incorporated other skills connected with
cognitive psychology. Based on ethnographic studies and interviews with users, we collected invaluable data for the final design.
